Junior Kart Racer Takes Italian Title

TERRIGAL kart racer Steel Giuliani was last week crowned Italian Junior Max Champion after winning the final series round at the Jesolo track near Venice.

Giuliani, 14, flew to Italy after competing in the Newcastle round of the Australian Rotax titles. The Jesolo win was his second in the three-round series.

He missed the first round in April, electing to stay home for the Australian Karting Nationals but, with each driver's two best rounds counting towards the Italian series, his two wins gave him an unassailable lead.

The young racer will have his next European outing in the fourth and final round of the Euro Challenge at Belgium's Genk circuit this weekend.
