HOLLYWOOD actor Christian Slater says he's glad the days of being in the spotlight for drunken nights are over. The 37-year-old, who stars alongside party girl Lindsay Lohan in his latest film Bobby, admits he enjoys the freedom of not being chased by the paparazzi after a night out. "It's pretty hilarious to kind of be on the outside and observe it," he said. "When we were promoting the film in Venice they were talking about her underwear and stuff, it's insane. It's nice to have things a little more relaxed. I am getting to discover what I really like to do which is great." The movie star admits fatherhood is his first priority and that his daughter Eliana is showing signs of a future actor. "My daughter has an outgoing personality and she likes people and to dance and perform," he said. "My son [Jaden] reminds me more of me as a kid. Shy, very sensitive."

AMERICA'S Hi-5 crew have bagged themselves their third consecutive daytime Emmy nomination. Modelled on the Australian version, which includes Anna Bay beauty Charli Delaney, the US program is watched by 85 million homes each week day, and is nominated in the outstanding preschool children's series category. "We are thrilled that Hi-5 continues to be recognised for its unique and dynamic approach to children's entertainment and education," said Helena Harris, creator and producer of Hi-5 in Australia and around the world.

US actor Jeff Goldblum has won a permanent restraining order against a woman he claims has stalked him for years and appeared outside his house many times. The order issued by a Los Angeles Superior Court judge says Linda Ransom must stay at least 100 metres away from the 54-year-old actor, his home, workplace and vehicle. In court papers filed on February 7, the Independence Day star claimed Ransom had visited his home more than 50 times in recent months.

THE Hunter's winemakers will be preoccupied with barrels of a different kind when they take to the water for Surfest's Inaugural Winemakers' Surfing Challenge. The competition will be held on March 16 at Merewether Beach. Teams from wineries including Brokenwood Wines and Wyndham Estate and businesses like the Hunter Valley Wine Society and the Crown Plaza will battle it out for the Perpetual Winemakers Surfing Trophy. But participants will be back to work the next day to showcase their wines and food as part of the Wine and Waves Festival running during the finals weekend of March 17 and 18.
