VENICE the city of bust-ups.
Despite its reputation as a destination for lovebirds, the Italian city of Venice is one of the worst cities in the world for romantic bust-ups, a survey by a British travel agency shows. Some of the arguments were caused by money, with the city being one of the most expensive for tourists. Paris was the top spot for bust-ups, with the Moroccan town of Marrakech second and Amsterdam third. The survey of 2310 British adults showed that 34 per cent of couples who had been to Paris had had an argument there, with visitors finding it difficult to get around and the locals sometimes "rude and surly". Couples found it difficult to relax in Marrakech, while some fell out with their partner over drugs and red light district visits in Amsterdam. Barcelona was rated the top romantic spot, followed by Florence, Paris, Prague and Madrid.
